Should I use "Syllabi" or "syllabuses"?

I, of course, know that the plural of "syllabus" is "syllabi," but in writing an article for my school newspaper, I realized that many students may not realize that. Should I just use "syllabuses," or stick to my grammatical guns and use "syllabi"?
